| Madinat Al Fahaheel Wins Architectural Award |

Dubai June 5, 2007: Wael Al-Masri, the principal architectural designer for Madinat Al-Fahaheel project, received the 2007 "Architectural Designer of the Year 2007 Award" presented by Retail City, Dubai. The award, one of a number of distinguished awards organized by Retail City, was announced in a grand ceremony on June 4, 2007 at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai. The Retail City awards included six categories: Most Innovative Retailer of The Year, Best Corporate Responsibility of The Year, New Retailer of The Year, Architectural Designer of the Year, Franchise Operator of The Year, and Mall of the Year.
The jury for these awards was composed of distinguished specialists in the field of retail design and operation. In their evaluation, the jury said that the Madinat Al-Fahaheel Project represented "contemporary architectural designs that remain sensitive and responsive to local and regional cultural and aesthetic influences and traditions." Madinat Al-Fahaheel, which is developed by Tamdeen Real Estate Company, is a mixed-use project comprising of 300,000 m2 of land area, built around the traditional Fahaheel fishing harbor. It includes the Al-Kout – Fahaheel Waterfront Project (Phase 1), Al-Manshar Commercial and Residential Complex (Phase 2), and the five-star Al-Manshar Rotana Hotel (Phase 3). The project also includes future phases consisting of a number of buildings currently under design, including a mixed use office and residential tower, a function hall, a multi-storey car park, surface parking, Fahaheel Municipality Offices, Dabbous Street landscaping, al-Dabbous Mosque, and Al-Ajmi Mosque extension. In its totality, this project represents an enlightened real estate development that is sensitive to the region's cultural and architectural heritage and to the existing urban and environmental context. This urban development is transforming Fahaheel City into a vibrant economic entity with a distinct cultural identity. Although this award is the first for the combined Madinat Al-Fahaheel development, both al-Kout and Al-Manshar have each won the Excellence Award from the American Concrete Institute, ACI – Kuwait Chapter, in 2004 and 2007 respectively. Moreover, the 2007 Leadership Award was won by Tamdeen during the Sixth Conference for Private Sector's Role in Development and Infrastructural Projects, in recognition of the iconic Al-Fahaheel Development Project – Al-Kout, one of the most significant BOT projects in Kuwait. |
